RAFA MEDIA PRIVACY POLICY

Rafa Media LLC (“Rafa,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you download, access, or use the Rafa mobile app (the “App” or “Service”), including features for discovering and creating local interest-based groups, finding new people, events, and engaging with advertising. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms and Conditions Agreement. 

1. Information We Collect 

We collect information you provide directly and information collected automatically or through third parties. 

Information You Provide: 

  • Account information: Name, email address, phone number, username, password, Images of License (to verify user), date of birth (to verify eligibility), and profile details when you create an account. 

  • ​To help protect your account and prevent unauthorized access, we use SMS-based verification during registration and certain account activities. By providing your mobile phone number, you consent to receive one-time passcodes (OTPs) via SMS solely for identity verification and account security purposes. We do not use these verification messages for marketing, and your phone number is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.

  • User Content: Text, images, videos, groups, descriptions, event details, posts, comments, and other materials you upload or share. 

  • Communications: Messages, support inquiries, or feedback you send to us. 

Information Collected Automatically: 

  • Device and usage data: Device type, operating system, IP address, app version, unique device identifiers, and usage statistics (e.g., features used, time spent, interactions). 

  • Cookies and similar technologies: We or our service providers may use tracking technologies for analytics, personalization, and advertising. 

Information from Third Parties: 

  • Publicly available information or data from partners related to us, giveaways, or advertising. 

2. How We Use Your Information 

We use the collected information to: 

  • Protect and verify each user 

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including helping you discover and create local groups, find people with shared interests. 

  • Process account creation, authentication, and transactions  

  • Personalize your experience, recommend groups/events, and show relevant content  

  • Communicate with you about updates, promotions, safety notices, or support. 

  • Ensure compliance with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and  standards of conduct. 

  • Prevent fraud, enforce policies (including conduct violations), and protect the safety of our community. 

  • Fulfill legal obligations or respond to lawful requests. 

3. How We Share Your Information 

We may share your information in the following ways: 

  • With other users: Your profile information, User Content, group participation, and event involvement may be visible to others in the community based on your privacy settings and the public nature of groups/events. 

  • Service providers: With trusted vendors who help operate the App (e.g., hosting, analytics, payment processing, push notifications, or moderation tools). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data. 

  • Advertising and partners: With advertisers for targeted promotions, giveaways, or sponsored content. We may share limited data (e.g., interests or location) for relevant advertising. 

  • Legal and safety reasons: To comply with laws, respond to subpoenas or government requests, enforce our Terms, investigate violations (including potential monetary penalties under our conduct policy), or protect the rights, property, or safety of Rafa Media, our users, or the public (including minors). 

  • With consent: In other cases where you explicitly consent. 

We do not, AND WILL NEVER sell personal information in the traditional sense, but certain sharing for advertising may be considered “sharing” under laws like CCPA.  

4. Data Security We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. 

5. Data Retention We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it, though copies may remain in backups for a limited time. 

6. Your Rights and Choices Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have rights to: 

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information. 

  • Opt out of certain data processing or targeted advertising. 

  • Withdraw consent where applicable. 

  • Object to or restrict processing in certain cases.

7. Children’s Privacy The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it. Users under 18 must have parental/guardian permission as stated in our Terms. 

8. International Users If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. or other countries. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. 

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
